New Van Halen Rehearsal Videos Doug McGee reports new flash drive technology based on "bug proteins". 50 TERABYTE drives within two years? Yikes! (In a cool way, of course.) Midnight Special Legendary Performances DVDs You Can Only Be So Cosmic by Robert Willey. Here's what Robert told us about the background of this track, "I wrote, conducted, played synth, and sang this with the University of California San Diego Jazz Ensemble in the early 1980s, and the concert was recorded in stereo on a 15 IPS reel to reel. I’ve since overdubbed the vocals and added synthesizer reinforcement with Reason in Pro Tools. I’m not happy with the muddiness. I have the tape track going through a Waves denoise plugin to get rid of the hiss. Any suggestions?" Feature Story: Gear Review: Modartt's PianoTeq 2.0 Pianoteq is quality virtual instrument using breakthrough technology, available for PC and Mac as a VST/AudioUnit/RTAS plugin and stand-alone player. It models the sound of the piano in real time as opposed to playing back static recordings, like modern sampled instruments. Feature Highlights:

Marilyn Manson, The Broadway Star? Fitty Cent - Keepin' It Real! Q: What was the first hip-hop single to hit #1 on the pop charts and what was the artist's name? BONUS QUESTION: What is the artist's real name? A: Ice Ice Baby by Vanilla Ice. His real name? Robert Matthew Van Winkle! This week's big winner is Howard Northrup. He offered up even more details on this. Howard says, "One other little bit of trivia about him - his birthday is on Halloween. And no, I didn’t have to Google any of those meaningless facts. I grew up in South Florida, where Robbie was making a "name" for himself." Howard takes home a copy of Guitar And Drum Trainer courtesy of Ryan Smith over at GuitarAndDrumTrainer.com. Honorable Mention goes out to Patrique Osbourne and Steve, who called in his answer using our Listener Hot Line. Steve also generously forgot to hang up his phone so that we got to listen to him listening to PSN! See you next week! T-RackS Plug-in - Analog Modeled Mastering Plug-Ins Following weeks of intense speculation by fans and the news media, it's been announced that the three surviving members of Led Zeppelin — Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones — would play a concert in London on Nov. 26. Jason Bonham, the son of John Bonham, who died in 1980, will fill in for his father on drums. The show, at the O2 arena, will be a tribute to Ahmet Ertegun, the Atlantic Records founder who died in December. The bill is also set to include Pete Townshend, Bill Wyman, Foreigner and Paolo Nutini, a 20-year-old Scottish heartthrob who was the last act Mr. Ertegun took under his wing. Gear Review: This week Dave Criddle joins PSN as a contributing field correspondent. He'll be bringing us all kinds of great features over the next few weeks while he's on hiatus from the Home Recording Odyssey podcast. This week it's a short but solid review of some gear Dave heard about right here on PSN, PRODIKEYS! 10 Large File Sending Services Feature Story: Bob Lefsetz is a Santa Monica-based music-industry figure, who has worked previously as an entertainment business attorney and as a consultant to major record labels. Perhaps he's best known as the author of The Lefsetz Letter, which was first produced as a hard copy publication and is now a free e-mail newsletter. In it he addresses the issues that are at the core of the music business today: downloading, copy protection, pricing and the music itself. His latest keynote address in Australia has some particularly interesting incite on the creation and distribution of music in this digital age. Enjoy this excerpt and I'm sure you'll take something away from it that will benefit you directly in your studio. The Stupid Knob: Courtney Love + Keith Richards = YIKES! Answer To Last Week's Trivia Question: Q: Thomas Edison was one of the earliest folks to lust after recording gear. In 1887 he made the first recording of a human voice on the first tinfoil cylinder phonograph. It was a poem that is now considered a classic children's song. What was it? A: Mary Had A Little Lamb! We had a fantastic turnout this week. Mostly all correct answers and many without having to Google! This week's winner is Aage Auby from Oslo, Norway! Aage is taking home a copy of Guitar and Drum Trainer courtesy of Ryan Smith over at GuitarAndDrumTrainer.com. Honorable mention goes out to:
